The Courses
All participants will be transported from Belfast to the Glenelly cottages on the 13th of June. Those wishing to arrange their own transport may contact the School for details.
Course description:
Week 14th to 19th June:
The 14th and 15th will involve the surveying of a local archaeological monument. The techniques used during this part of the course will include total station, tape-and-offset and photographic surveying.
A talk by Dr. Thom Kerr will take place the evening of the 15th. Title TBA.
The 16th and 17th will cover aspects of experimental archaeology. A flint-knapping tutorial will take place on the 9th and will be tutored by Anthonio Akkermans.
This will involve basic techniques of flint-knapping and tool manufacture. This will be followed by an archery demonstration and tutorial on the 18th, co-ordinated by Ross Bailey.
A fieldtrip to well-known and lesser spotted monuments around Northern Ireland will take place on the 19th.
All participants will be transported back to Belfast on the 19th.
