FAQ's
Do I need archaeological experience or a degree to participate?
No. A healthy interest is all that is required.
What type of clothing should I bring?
All participants should bring waterproof and windproof outdoor clothing. A sturdy pair of hiking boots is also essential.
Is there a minimum age for participants?
We ask that participants be at least 18 years of age. There is no upper age limit but it should be noted that the fieldtrips and surveying can be quite strenuous and participants should be physically fit.
How do I get to the School?
All participants will be transported from a designated meeting place in Belfast to the cottages. Anyone wishing to drive to the cottages should contact the School for details.
What type of accommodation is provided?
All participants will stay in superb 4-star self-catering cottages situated along the Glenelly Valley, approximately 1 mile from the village of Cranagh. Electricity, heating, bedlinen, towels, laundry facilities and basic household supplies will be provided. Full kitchen facilities are available for food preparation. Is there mobile phone reception at the cottages?
Network reception is, unfortunately, rather weak at the cottages.
Is computer/internet access available at the cottages?
No.
